What to Expect During Your Tattoo Session?: A Step-by-Step Guide by Mike Ramos
As a tattoo artist, my goal is always to ensure that every client leaves the studio not just with a new piece of art but with a great experience, which is why transparency with my clients is always crucial. Here's what you can expect when you come in for a session with me, Mike Ramos.
1. Arrival and Consent Waiver
First things first, I recommend you show up about 5 to 10 minutes before your appointment. This gives us a chance to get the paperwork out of the way comfortably. Filling out the consent waiver is crucial—it makes sure you understand the process, any risks involved, and lets me know about any health conditions I should be aware of. It's all about making sure we start on the right foot.
2. Finalizing the Design and Stencil Application
Before your appointment, you will receive your design to review and request any changes. This ensures you’re happy with the design in advance of your session. Once we’ve made the requested changes, the final design will be sent to you. Any further details or minor adjustments requested after this will be made during our session time. On the day of your appointment, once you're satisfied with the design, I'll apply a stencil of your tattoo. This is an exciting step because you'll get to see a preview of how your tattoo will look. After you're happy with everything, we'll let the stencil dry for about 10 to 15 minutes to ensure it doesn't smudge during the tattooing.
3. The Tattooing Begins
With the stencil set, the actual tattooing starts. I will first outline the design, then fill in the details with shading and color. The length of this process varies, depending on the design's complexity and size.
4. Taking Necessary Breaks
Breaks are key for longer sessions, ensuring both you and I remain comfortable. Always feel free to communicate if you need a pause for any reason (to stretch, to go to the washroom, to eat, to hydrate, etc.) If I require a break, I'll let you know as well.
5. Documenting Your New Tattoo
After we've finished the tattoo, I might take a few minutes to snap some photos or a quick video of the artwork. This helps me document my work and also gives you a chance to see the tattoo from angles you might not be able to see directly. It's a cool way to wrap up the session, showcasing the result of our collaboration.
6. Bandaging and Aftercare
The final step is to properly bandage your new tattoo and walk you through the aftercare instructions. This part is key to ensuring your tattoo heals perfectly and stays vibrant. I'll make sure you know exactly what to do before you leave the studio.
Coming in for a tattoo is more than just getting inked—it's an experience. From start to finish, I strive to make it as smooth, comfortable, and enjoyable as possible. See you soon!
